ABOUT ME

Kendra Jackson began writing poetry at the age of 27 years old but before then never considered herself creative.  "My inspiration was my daughter who had developed brain cancer at the tender age of 20 months.  Witnessing a child so brave and so wise made me realize the creativity in me. I would sit up at night while she slept and just write. I would write how I was feeling, what she meant to me, what working meant, I would just write. Sharing my writings was the second best thing, my poetry spoke to people.  With a pen, I am free!"

Mrs. Jackson's works include several books of poetry, songwriting and writing for a television production.  Currently she is working on her second children's book that furthers the adventures of Bella, her travels back to where it all began and chronicles what's next for our fluttering heroes. Her goal for this project is to bring awareness to the ecological system and to help children see that even the little things count.

Kendra Jackson is married, has three children and resides in Woodbridge, Virginia.
